2014 Safe at Home Kickball Tournament
Benefiting the Arlington-Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless
WHAT:
DCGreeks.com
is once again sponsoring a team created from Greek and Philhellene kickballers
from all over the DC Metro area to compete in a one-day kickball tournament that
covers all the bases -- fun, food, charity, and all-day KICKBALL competition
-- now in its 9th year! Last year we made it to the championship
game, winning the runner-up trophy after losing to a professional kickball team
(who isn't playing this year)!
WHEN:
Saturday, August 2, 2014. Games start at 9:00 AM. Round robin
play (4 innings or 30 minutes, 3 games minimum) goes till about noon. Top
teams make the single-elimination playoffs (5 innings or 40 minutes with a 6 inning
Championship game) which start around 11:40 AM. Teams advancing to the championship
game will be there till 3:30 PM or so.

Located north of Crystal City adjacent to I-395, Long Bridge Park features three
full-size, multi-sport, lighted, rectangular synthetic turf athletic fields, a network
of walkways, an overlook at the north end of the park with views of capital monuments,
Wave Arbor, a public art feature by nationally recognized artist Doug Hollis, and
a three-quarter acre rain garden that directs runoff from the park's sports fields
and parking lot into a planted garden of native shrubs and perennials. There are
picnic areas, interpretive displays, restrooms and free parking for the event.

Blue and Yellow Line Metro (Pentagon City 1 mile, Crystal City 1.1 mile, Pentagon
1.2 mile), Metrobus 9A and 23A, and by bicycle (connection to the Mount Vernon Trail
is over the railroad tracks and GW Parkway is from the south of the park. The connection
is through the connector from National Airport to the Water Park in Crystal City.)

women and families can get the tools, shelter, and skills necessary for a better

This is a co-ed tournament. We need 9 people minimum (3 of which must
be women) and can go up to a maximum of 15 people. If you're
