Associate Professor of Greek Language and Literature, and Byzantinologist
The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey

THE GLORY OF BYZANTIUM
A lecture with slide presentation of the long and glorious era of the Byzantine Empire. Byzantium as a link between antiquity and modern Greek times its influence and contribution to the Hellenic Culture and the European civilization. The transition from paganism to Greek Orthodox Christianity. The contribution of the Three Hierarchs to the acceptance and integration of the highest ethical values of the ancient Hellenic world into Christian beliefs. The lecture will be in Greek.
The Greek schools of the Washington Metropolitan Area will participate in the celebration with short readings from the Byzantine era.

A reception will follow.

The Society will also cut its traditional vasilopitta.
