DCGreeks.com's World Cup 2014 Watch Party

Episode III:

GREECE vs. Costa Rica

Sunday June 29, 2014

Penn Social
801 E St NW | Washington, DC

The Party starts at 3:00 PM!  Kickoff is 4:00 PM!

After secretly watching Greece advance to the knockout stage with a miraculous stoppage time victory against Ivory Coast from the offices of their day-jobs, we here at DCGreeks.com are once again hosting a World Cup Watch Party for Greece's match against Group D Winners Costa Rica, and we're inviting all Greeks and Philhellenes to join us!  Given the huge turnouts for our first two parties, a convenient Sunday afternoon timeslot, and growing excitement for Hellas, we're expecting another huge crowd, so we're holding this edition at Penn Social!

Conveniently located in Penn Quarter, two blocks from the Gallery Place/Chinatown and 4 blocks from Metro Center, Penn Social sports 13,000 square feet over two floors, a 22 foot HD better-than-the-stadium theater screen in their downstairs main room, 7 other HD projection screens across both floors, and 8 other TVs to go along with three bars.  Between 6 large tables which can accommodate 12 people each as well as 20 high top tables, the main room can seat over 150 people comfortably, and that's not including additional seating and bars on the street level floor and outdoor patio.  The match starts at 4:00 PM, but we're asking people to show up around 3:00 PM to stake out good seats, get settled in, and maybe play classic arcade games, skeeball, shuffleboard, foosball, pop-a-shot basketball, cornhole and more before the main event begins!  Penn Social's got great specials running all game long, including $4 Bud Light, $2 off drafts, $5 drinks, and $6 wine -- not a bad combination to cheer on Hellas to victory!

Getting There

Fans thinking about taking the Red Line may want to consider alternate transportation, as Dupont Circle, Farragut North and the Red Line platform at Metro Center are closed through closing Sunday due to scheduled work. In addition, buses replace trains between Woodley Park & Gallery Place stations until closing Sunday and trains run every 10 minutes between Shady Grove & Woodley Park and every 15 minutes between Glenmont & Gallery Place. Check the Metro Alerts page for the most up to date information.
