Please join us for an evening of art, wine, mezze and philanthropy in support of Abdo Tokgozoglu, the Saint Andrew's Freedom Forum English Language Scholar. Abdo Tokgozoglu was born into an Orthodox Christian family in southern Turkey. An ancient place known as Antioch, which is modern day Antakya bordering war-torn Syria. Abi grew up in a farming village with his loving parents, two sisters and one younger brother.

Abi is an extraordinarily gifted student. He is currently a senior studying engineering at Sakarya University with a concentration in metallurgy and materials. He is set to graduate summa cum laude and valedictorian of his class. Abi has come to the United States to study English for the next seven months. He then aims to return to the United States as a Fulbright Scholar!

Abi was introduced to me by Metropolitan of Bursa Elpidophoros Lambriniadis, Archpriest of the Halki Theological Seminary in Istanbul, Turkey. The Metropolitan has asked me to do all that I can to support Abi. So I am doing so. He will be lodging at my mother's home - kudos to mother Mary! He has enrolled in an English language school in Washington, DC, and now we are raising funds to assist him in this endeavor.

Abi has limited economic resources. We are asking you for your help. Please consider giving any amount that you feel comfortable giving. If you are unable to join us on September 12, but are interested in offering financial support, please respond to this email and I will follow up with you. Abi told me that he is inspired by a quote from James Baldwin, "The world is before you, and you need not take it or leave it as it was when you came in." Abi wants to return to Turkey and do something for his country - make it a better place for all. His time here in the United States will be well spent in reaching that dream.

Will you join me, the Saint Andrew's Freedom Forum, Metropolitan Elpidophoros and other like-minded friends, to help Abi reach his natural potential?

I thank you for your time,

Andreas Akaras, President
Saint Andrew's Freedom Forum
