Nicostratos The Pelican
A film by Olivier Horlait

This French production was shot in the Greek isles. Yannis is a 14-year-old boy who lives on a pristine Greek island. Still haunted by memories of his mother's death, he struggles to connect emotionally with his fisherman dad. One magical summer, Yannis rescues and befriends a young pelican that he names Nicostratos; he also falls in love for the first time, with Angeliki, a 17-year-old girl whose free-spiritedness overwhelms him and opens up unforeseen doors in his life. As the summer rolls forward, the emotional barriers between Yannis and his dad also begin to break down.

2011 | 95 min | Not Rated | in French and Greek with English subtitles
