ST. THEODORE SPRING FESTIVAL CELEBRATES FAMILY TRADITIONS,
GREEK AND GREEK-AMERICAN CULTURE
St. Theodore Greek Orthodox Church will hold its annual spring festival May 15-16
from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and May 17 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Festival attendees will
enjoy popular Greek food and drink like baklava, souvlaki and gyros, and try new
favorites like loukoumades, pastitisio and frappe. There will be live music each
night courtesy of the band Golden Flame.
Youth groups from across the Baltimore-Washington region will perform traditional
folk dances. Our family-friendly festival takes place rain or shine. Admission and
parking are free and open to the public.
Free cultural events new to this year's festival include a Greek dance lesson May
15 and May 16 at 6 p.m. hosted by St. Theodore's youth dance troupe, and a demonstration
of traditional Greek cooking May 17 at 1 p.m. Also screening indoors throughout
the festival are interviews from St. Theodore's video storytelling project, which
describe the meaningful cultural traditions and personal histories our families
have passed down through generations.
St. Theodore Greek Orthodox Church is located at 7101 Cipriano Road in Lanham, Md.
