Eirini
Mercouri and Sarmbel Delight Hundreds at Clearwater, FL Show
June 1, 2005
It’s a rare opportunity when we actually get to give our
readers a preview of a one-night-only concert in DC. Based on last weekend’s
show in Clearwater, this Friday’s concert headlined by Eirini Mercouri and
Sarmbel may well just be one of the best shows to come through DC in a while,
both for the chemistry that these entertainers had with the crowd but also
because of the chemistry they had with each other.
While technically not on the marquee for this show, the opening
act, simply known as Vanessa, nearly stole the show with just the right mix of
engaging the crowd with just a small dose of aloofness to keep the guys in the
audience fascinated and looking forward to her returns on stage with Sarmbel.
Sarmbel’s energy and non-threatening boy-bandish good looks had the women in
the audience going nuts and drew the evening’s first crowd of women dancing
on the tables. His dance moves were definitely the talk of the beach the next
day. Mercouri herself took the stage and continued the trend of captivating the
audience with a range of songs. Sarmbel joined her as Vanessa had joined him
earlier for the occasional sensual ballad. For an amazing three hours the crowd
was dancing, swaying, and singing along to both the artist’s own songs and
covers.
Check back in the coming days for photos from the
Clearwater, FL show.
