THE NATIONAL YAL has teamed with International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) to aid the victims of the tsunami in South Asia. The national YAL has set a goal of assembling 5,000 "Gift of the Heart" health kits that will include hand towels, washcloths, combs and nail clippers, soap, tooth brush and tooth paste, and band-aids. The St. Katherine YAL has a long tradition of helping the less fortunate members of our community and with your help and God's blessing, we plan to help our less fortunate neighbors in South Asia.
On Monday, February 7th at 7:30pm, please come to the new hall and help the YAL assemble health kits with these basic but much needed everyday supplies. Our goal is to assemble 50 health kits. The YAL will purchase all necessary supplies. We need you to come and help us assemble these health kits! We also ask that you help defray the cost of this most worthy cause! by making a small donation of $15, made payable to "St. Katherine YAL."
Each month, our YAL members donate an average $15 each to make sandwiches for the homeless. There will be no sandwich-making for the homeless this month. Instead, we ask that you please open your hearts (and wallets!), come to the new hall to help assemble these health kits, and leave knowing that you helped to provide hope and comfort, kindness and love to our brothers and sisters in our extended community on the other side of the world.
As with all our past monthly charitable events, we will gather afterwards at a local Greek restaurant for coffee.
