The St. Katherine YAL will be hosting their monthly sandwich-making for the homeless charitable event in the kitchen of the new hall.
Please bring a loaf or two or more of sandwich bread and one or two or more packages of deli meats and cheeses. Sandwich-making usually runs one-half hour from 7:30pm to 8:00pm. After sandwich-making, we have two events for you to participate: 1) our weekly pick-up basketball game starts afterwards and is open to both men and women; or 2) join us for dinner at a local restaurant to catch up with old friends and meet new friends.
Please don't underestimate the value of your participation in our monthly sandwich-making event for the homeless. Every month we make between 150 and 200 sandwiches. Our efforts are greatly appreciated by the staff and the residents of the Bailey's Crossroads Community Shelter for Men and Women, our "adopted" homeless shelter. You may think that one or two sandwiches can't solve the problem of homelessness, poverty and hunger but to a mother and her child who can't afford to eat every day, an old man or woman who hasn't eaten in days, or someone who simply is down on his or her luck, your small efforts go along way and bring a smile on someone's face. Its amazing how many sandwiches that we can make in 30 minutes and you have a lot of fun at the same time.
