Summer of 1922… An oceanliner sails from the Eastern Mediterranean to the US with the third class deck filled with hundreds of mail-order brides from Greece, Anatolia, and Eastern Europe. Each one has stories to tell, mostly of war and poverty, and also dreams and expectations for the homeland-to-be. A young American photographer, recently recalled from the Asia Minor battlefield, decides to take their pictures.
