AFI's official selection.The true story of a bus hijacking in northern Greece provides the inspiration for this intense drama, which centers on the issue of contemporary Greek-Albanian relations. Through a series of flashbacks and heated interactions between the hijacker and his hostages, the director takes the audience on a harrowing trip, not only through the Greek countryside, but also through the complicated reasoning behind the hijacker's desperate, extreme actions. Director Constantine Giannaris was born in Athens in 1959. He moved to England in 1976 and graduated from the University of Keele. He did his postgraduate studies at the University of Birmingham in Greek-Russian postwar relations. His more recent work includes 3 STEPS TO HEAVEN, selected as Director's Fortnight, Cannes Film Festival 1995.
