To all members and friends of the Saint Katherine YAL:

 

Our monthly charity and social event, Deuteri Deutera, will take place on Monday, January 8th, in the kitchen of the new Cultural Center starting at 7:30pm.

 

After donating over 10,500 sandwiches to the homeless in 2006, we want to surpass this goal in 2007.  We need your help!  Please bring a few loaves of sandwich bread and packages of deli meats and cheeses.

 

We have found that Shoppers' Food Warehouse has the best prices in the area.  The total cost of the bread, meat and cheese comes out to roughly $15.00 - $20.00 per person.  This is a small donation to help the many homeless men and women in our community.  Every month that we bring the sandwiches to the shelter, the number of homeless people in the shelter grows.  In the winter months many nights are standing-room only at the shelter, especially as the temperarture drops.

 

After sandwich-making, the YAL will go out as a group for dinner and parea.  Every month we select a different restaurant.  We typically have about 20 people come each month to this social and charitable event.  It is a great way to see old friends and meet new ones.

 

All members and friends of the Saint George YAL and the Saint Sophia YAL are cordially invited to join us.  All members of the George Mason University OCF (Orthodox Christian Fellowship), the GWU Kosmos Club, and all Greek student organizations at all local colleges and universities in the area are welcome to join us.

 

If you can't join us this Monday, please consider making a cash donation to this effort.  You can either call our designated grocery shopper, Aris Chronis, at (703) 470-3971 or write to him at [email protected]. 

 

If you are planning to come but don't have time to go to the grocery store, please contact Aris and let them know how much you would like to donate and he will go to the grocery store and purchase the food supplies on your behalf.
