Summer GreekFest on August 15, 2009 St. Nicholas community brings traditional feast day event to Baltimore
BALTIMORE, MD The St. Nicholas Greek Folk Festival announces a special one-day event on August 15, 2009.
In Greece, the feast day of the Virgin Mary is one of the most important religious feasts and is celebrated with a religious ceremony followed by a great feast during which people dance, drink and eat all night long, said Costas Triantafilos, owner of Costas Inn restaurant and chairperson of first Summer GreekFest in Baltimore.
One Night only, proceeds to benefit the Plateia Fundraising Committee, which is working to complete construction of a permanent cultural center to ensure continuity in the artistic life of future generations of Greek-Americans and their fellow citizens. Donation is $10/per adult, children 12 and under are free.
