Despite thousands of years of human activity, Greece enjoys more biodiversity than many Greeks and Greek-Americans think. Dr. Karamanlidis will discuss campaigns to protect the monk seal, brown bears, their habitats and Greece’s natural heritage at his presentation.
Dr. Karamanlidis is a wildlife biologist with a special interest in the conservation of critically endangered mammals. Since 1996, he has been involved in the study and conservation of the critically endangered Mediterranean monk seal, and since 2002 involved in the study and conservation of the endangered brown bear in Greece. He currently works as the Scientific Coordinator of MOm, and as Scientific Director of ARCTUROS. He lives in Thessaloniki, Greece, with his wife and 2 children.
