St. Sophia's YAL Serves Lunch at Fisher House

When: Saturday January 26, 2013
11:30 AM to 1:30 PM
Where: Fisher House
50 Irving St NW
Washington, DC  20422
We here at St. Sophia's YAL are organizing a volunteer opportunity on Saturday, January 26, 2013, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. preparing lunch for Fisher House.  If you are interested, we need you to send an email to [email protected] with what you are willing to bring by January 2, 2013.

What?
Prepare and serve lunch at the Fisher House. The Fisher House provides a safe and free place to stay for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers.
Details are here: http://www.fisherhouse.org/houses/about-the-houses/

Why?
The temporary residents appreciate home-cooked meals more than ANYTHING, especially after a long day in the hospital away from home.

Number of residents?
55 - 60 people.

How?
Lunch, potluck style. They also appreciate a vegetarian option. We have talented cooks and bakers in our YAL, and this is a great way to share your skills for an awesome cause. We could also use juices and sodas.  Even if you don't have the time, you can always pick up something already made.

You can drop it off to a board member or the Fisher House if you can't make it at lunch time.

Where?
Fisher House

50 Irving St. Washington, DC 20422

Metro accessible by the Brookland - Catholic University Metro (Red Line) AND Metro shuttle bus (too far to walk)

Again, if you are interested, we need your reply with what you are willing to bring by January 2, 2013. Please send an email to [email protected].

God Bless,

Chris Dallas
Saint Sophia YAL President
