Benefiting Bridges to Independence (formerly the Arlington-Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless)

WHAT:
DCGreeks.com is once again sponsoring a team created from Greek and Philhellene kickballers from all over the DC Metro area to compete in a one-day kickball tournament that covers all the bases -- fun, food, charity, and all-day KICKBALL competition -- now in its 15th edition, back from a two year pandemic-related hiatus!  The 2019 tournament (the last one which was held) saw us come from behind in the Championship game in dramatic fashion to secure our fourth championship in five years -- not bad for a squad that doesn't play organized kickball but once a year!

In addition, there will be a live DJ, food trucks, and an opportunity to meet new people and expand your networks. Bridges to Independence Kickball Tournament has brought together families, companies, faith-based groups, and volunteers for friendly competition and networking while supporting a great cause. All proceeds from the event will help families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, and systemic poverty.

WHEN:
Saturday, August 6, 2022.  Games start at 9:00 AM.  Round robin play followed by Playoffs. In previous years, the Championship Game has finished around 3:00 PM.

WHY:
To benefit Bridges to Independence (f/k/a the Arlington-Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless), where homeless women and families can get the tools, shelter, and skills necessary for a better future. For more on b2i's tough, terrific work see https://bridges2.org/.

WHO:
DCGreeks.com is once again sponsoring a team created from Greek and Philhellenes kickballers from all over the DC Metro area and is putting out an open sign-up for members.    

This is a co-ed tournament.  We need 12 players minimum (3 of which must be women) and can go up to a maximum of 15 players, as we can play 11 players in the field on defense.   If you're interested in playing, please email [email protected] ASAP as roster slots are limited.
