Please join us this Monday night for our monthly Deuteri Deutera sandwich-making for the homeless event at 7:30pm in the kitchen of the Meletis-Charuhas Center.
 
The sandwiches that we make will be delivered to the Bailey's Crossroads Shelter in Falls Church that same evening.  The shelter is thankful to receive our help each month, as they serve many local men and women in need of our contributions.
 
Please bring loaves of sandwich bread and packages of deli meats and cheeses in the right amounts to ensure that we do not have any leftovers. The ratio is 2 slices of meat per sandwich, or one slice of meat and one slice of cheese per sandwich. If you don't have time to go to the grocery store beforehand, or cannot attend this event but would like to make a cash contribution to this worthy cause, please email us back at [email protected] by 3:00pm that Monday, to let us know that we should purchase meat and bread on your behalf.
 
As always, after sandwich-making, we will go to a local restaurant for dinner. 
 
 
UPDATE ON YAL PREPARATION OF HYGIENE KITS FOR THE HOMELESS
 
St. Katherine's YAL and St. Sophia's YAL is helping the St. Katherine's Mission and Outreach Committee in collection of items for Hygiene Kits for the Bailey's Crossroads Homeless Shelter in preparation for the winter according to the shelter's needs.  St. Katherine's YAL is assissting with the collection item of small deodorants.  Travel sizes of deodorant and similar items can be found at places like Walmart and Target for about $1.  While we are to focus on collecting deoderant, all new and unused travel size toiletries will be accepted.  You can drop off toiletries in the collection bin in the Meletis-Charuhas hall. 
 
St. Katherine's would like these items delivered to church by Monday in order to organize them for a large group assembly after church (after the second service) on Sunday, November 20th.  Please mark your calendar if you would like to help out with the packing of the kits on that Sunday.  If you would like to let us know that you will be helping out or if you have any questions, email the YAL contact for this program, Korinna Garbis, at [email protected].  All helping hands will be much appreciated!
