When: Saturday October 15, 2016
9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Where: National Mall (Outside the National Museum of the American Indian)
4th St SW & Independence Ave SW
Washington, DC  20024

The 4th Annual Monumental Missions Walk (MMW), sponsored by the Metropolitan DC Orthodox Christian Mission and Outreach Committee will take place on Saturday, October 15th, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.. The length of the walk is approximately 3 miles, walked at a leisurely pace and led by a MMW guide, with frequent stops at various monuments/landmarks along the way. The guide will discuss the historical, and spiritual, significance of the monument and offer a prayer for those whom the monument represents. At this year's walk, walkers will meet at the MMW white tent on the National Mall between 3rd & 4th Streets, near the American Indian Museum. From there, groups of approximately ten walkers will proceed on their guided tour to the monuments listed below and return to the tent.

1. American Veterans Disabled for Life Memorial
2. US Botanical Gardens
3. President James Garfield Memorial
4. Ulysses S. Grant Memorial
5. U.S. Capitol Building
6. Peace Monument
7. National Gallery of Art
8. National Archives

Our Goal

In addition to providing participants with this unique opportunity to explore America's treasured landmarks, the goal of the Monumental Missions Walk is to raise awareness and funds for local and international charities.  The success of the Monumental Missions Walk depends on the kindness and fellowship of Orthodox Christians in the Washington D.C. area.  Please join us for a memorable journey.
