Member ID:   MariaB

Hi, my name is MariaB and I'm a 58 year-old first-generation Greek-American female from Bethesda, MD. I am looking for friendship with both men and women.
I am 5' 8". I have brown hair. I would consider my body type to be slender.
I don't smoke and I drink in social settings.
I do not consider myself religious. I do not attend church.

I have a Doctorate Degree. My Occupation: Science consulting. My annual income is over $100,000.

Personal Statement:

I've been in the US for 17 years, starting in MD. I moved to CA and then WA before I returned to MD 2 years ago. I don't relate closely to the mainstream greek culture in Greece because of the excessive overload of cheap imitation of all kinds, but I respect and appreciate the honesty, dignity, thoughtfulness and values of the few who are not represented well in the mass. I am a toxicologist and I have spent a long time in lab research in academia before I chose to switch to consulting. I love arts: painting, photography, drawing, music especially live music, theater, and italian culture. I lived in the UK and Italy before I came to the US and I speak italian comfortably. I would like to be more involved in political discourse although I have not made enough effort yet. I would also like to start playing tennis, learn how to play the sax one day, and also sailing. I dislike nationalistic stereotypes. I'd like to spend my time living in Greece for a good part of the year and perhaps return someday and hope to be able to offer something back.

The kind of person I'm looking for on DCGreeks.com:

I'd like to connect with members of the Greek community who are active in the DC area professionally, socially and politically. I love both casual and more substantive conversations. I'd like to make new friends with similar interests to enjoy arts, events, and casual get-togethers. I am also interested in meeting someone more special for a romantic/intimate relationship but this is not my exclusive interest in this group.
